PTO would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all those that attended the 2018 Movie Night. What an amazing turnout! We would also like to thank all those who took time to participate in our first Yummm-Raiser of the year at Port of Subs. Your continued support is greatly appreciated!

PTO’s calendar is full of fun and exciting things to come. Please take note, mark your calendars and we hope to see you all soon! Here’s what’s to come…

Sept 26th – 2018 Lion Dash Kick Off Assembly: The students will join the Mr. Roberts, Mrs Schendel and the PTO for an informational assembly with all the details of this years jog-a-thon fundraiser. Students will bring home their donation collection envelopes. All the event details are printed on the envelope. PTO has partnered up again this year with The Get Movin’ Crew to make online donations easy to collect. If you registered last year, just login and update your student’s info with this years teacher/classroom assignment. www.thegetmovincrew.com The donation collection period will run from 9/26 thru 10/12. All funds collected should be turned into your teachers by that Friday, Oct 12th. The Lion Dash will be held on the North Field on Friday, Oct 12th at about 2:15pm. We welcome parents to come and participate and/or volunteer.

Sept 28th – Last Day to order your LRE Gear: We still have the Buy a Hoodie & Get a Free T-Shirt deal on the website. The Store will close down at midnight and we expect to have the orders in by the end of October.

Oct 4th – First PTO Meeting: PTO is holding its first meeting on Thursday, Oct 4th at 3:45pm in the Library/Media Center. Meetings start promptly and typically only last an hour. We encourage you to join the meeting, get an overview of what the first of the year has been like and get first dibs on upcoming volunteer opportunities. We hope to see you there!

Oct 12th – Lion Dash Run: This is our second year holding this event and has become our biggest fundraising event of the year. PTO along with PE teacher Mr. Roberts and Music teacher Mrs. Schendel want to welcome you to come to the school on this afternoon and cheer on your runner! If you have some extra time on your hands, and would like to lend a helping hand, please reach out to your teachers/Room-Parents as this event requires lots of volunteers. A volunteer signup will be posted in the next few days. (Keep an eye out on our FB page!) Also, PTO would like to thank MIKE’S Fence Center for sponsoring this years Lion Dash!

Oct 24-26th – Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences: During fall conferences there will be no school. PTO coordinates a potluck meal for all the teachers during this time. Please be on the look out for more information if you wish to contribute to the potluck. (More info to come on our FB Page!)

Oct 30th – Yummm-Raiser at Chipotle: This Yummm-Raiser has become a LRE family favorite! On Thursday, October 30th from 4pm-8pm head on over to Chipotle (222 NE Emerson Ave, Bend, OR 97701). Be sure to bring your flyer (look for these to come home the week before) and let them know your order is in support of Lava Ridge Elementary!!

Nov 13-16 – LRE Spirit Week: Dust off those silly socks and start pinning crazy hair looks… we’re bringing back Spirit Week to LRE. More details coming soon!

2018/2019 Back To School

It’s that time again to start thinking about bed times, setting alarm clocks, lunches, school events and so much more!

Please welcome our new 2018-2019 PTO Board… Miriam Dunn – Pres., Callie Kackley-VP, Stephanie Walker – Treasure, Kim Switzer – Secretary, and Katie Speck – Volunteer Coordinator. Read more about them here.

If you haven’t already starting gathering your school supplies you can find the Lava Ridge Elementary supply list here.

If you plan on volunteering at the school this year, please take a few minutes to update your information for your background check (use this link). Please note, background checks need to be completed every two years. With the new renovations to the front end of the school, it’s best to have all your info updated to make that first day back to school as smooth as possible.

Be sure you add Lava Ridge Elementary OPEN HOUSE to your calendar. The OPEN HOUSE will take place on Thursday, August 30th from 3pm-5pm. This is a great time to check out the new updates done over the summer, find out who your new teachers are and get informed with all the new and exciting plans for the school year.

Lastly, if you’re interested in staying updated with PTO events and volunteer opportunities, please take a few minutest to fill out this form. This will provide us with your contact info, update you on major events taking place and give you a heads up with the various volunteer opportunities.
